1. Product Introduction

Transformers winding hot points is the highest temperature in the insulation system of the winding. It is well known that the short-term effects of transformers overheat are reduction in insulation, temporary deterioration of mechanical characteristics, and reductions in short circuit intensity. In the long run, the life of the transformer will be shortened, aging of the Insulation materials will be accelerated, and sealant will become brittles. That is to say, winding overheat during operation affects the safety and life of transformers.

Cooling control of power transformers is traditionally provided by a winding temperature indicator (WTI) that is based on a measurement of the top-oil temperature and a simulation of the winding hottest spot temperature. This method has some drawbacks and utilities are now applying more fiber optic temperature sensors & monitoring system for this critical function.

The fiber optic temperaturesensors are of extremely high di-electrical strength and can be installed directly onto windings without causing insulation or PD issues. The monitors are of up to 16 channels, can communicate directly with SCADA system through RS485 or other smart communication protocols. It also allows users to control the cooling efficiency and provide trends/alarms in real-time.
